Amigos in Mexico

One time I went to Mexico, accepted a ride from strangers, and then they gave me the keys to their friend’s apartment when he was out of town. This is that story. When I was in college, another student that volunteered with youth ministry was trying to get a group to go to Mexico over Christmas break. He put together a packet of information that painted a picture of an adventure that would take us to beaches and cities, traveling by bus and by foot. The trip that I agreed to was  ...

Do Something Awesome (With Seemingly Insignificant Gifts)

Here is your one tip on how to do something awesome. But first, a story. Most people have heard the story of the “Feeding of the 5000.” Other than the Resurrection, it is the only miracle told in all four Gospels (Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:31-44, Luke 9:10-17, and John 6:5-15). After four days, everything was still upside down, but on the fifth day, the images appeared upright. This experiment has been repeated many times, and with time, people are able to  ...

Weekly Blogging Awesomeness

Stories move us, and inspire us. Jumping off a 30 foot platform. The last time I tried a back-flip. Eating only beans and rice for lent. Seeing upside down. Scars. Marshmallows, running, getting pick-pocketed, the grand canyon, mopeds, ant poison . . . I have many stories to tell. In 2016 I am going to start a weekly blog. Right now I am committing to 52 blogs, one posted each week. These will be various stories and analogies that will allow me to explain my faith. My hope is that it is  ...
